HOME GAME RESPONSIBILITIES:

Concessions:

Three (3) concession stand volunteers are needed per game on Field 1. Two volunteers must be adults, with the option of one volunteer that is 14 or older. One person will need to man the grill.
    First Game: All three volunteers need to report 30 minutes before game time.
    Second Game:  All three volunteers report at the end of the previous game.

    Third Game:  All three volunteers report at the end of the previous game. Volunteers are expected                              to help cleanup and stock at the end of the night.

After Completion of Your Team's Game (both fields):
Coaches, players and parents are to assist in the following: Rake around the bases, pitchers mound and home plate. Clean out and sweep both dugouts. Clean up trash around bleachers, empty trash containers in the dugouts and near the bleachers into the receptacles north of Field 1. Players should not be dismissed until these tasks are completed.

After Completion of Last Game (both fields):
In addition to the above tasks, players and parents are to assist assist coaches by: removing bases and inserting base plugs, turning out field lights and locking up restrooms. Players should not be dismissed until these tasks are completed.

Crow's Nest:

After completion of games, pick up all trash in crow’s nest and place in receptacle provided. The controller on Field 1 needs to be placed in the cabinet and the controller on Field 2 needs to be placed back into the bag and hung on the hooks. The Village of Valparaiso has requested that there is to be no sitting on the ledge of Field 1 crow’s nest. Please make sure to close the doors when finished in the crow’s nest.

Since VABA is leasing the facilities from the Village of Valparaiso, any damages sustained during the use of the ball diamond facilities will be repaired and billed to the Valparaiso Area Ball Association.

Batting Cage Rules:
1. No spikes on turf. Metal spikes may be worn in batters box and on rubber matting only.
2. No seeds in batting cage.

3. Clean up any trash in and around the batting cages.
4. Players should enter at back of cage with cleats on.

Concussion Training and Safe Environment Training:

All coaches are required to take concussion training online. You will be provided a certificate at the completion of either of the training options. There are two options (Links are below):

1. Through CDC.gov, "Heads Up Concussion in Youth Sports". On their website, you first need to create an account with CDC TRAIN. Then take the online Heads Up Concussion training course.

2. Through NFHS.org, "Concussion in Sports". On their website, you first need to create an account with NFHS. Then take the online concussion in sports course.

All coaches are also required to take a safe environment training online. (Link is below.) This is also through the NFHS.org, "Protecting Students from Abuse". You need to either create an account with NFHS or log on to your existing account in order to take the online course. You will be provided a certificate at the completion of the training.
